What to Expect When You Apply

Our hiring process is designed to be straightforward, professional, and fair—so you’ll always know where you stand. Here’s what you can expect:

Step 1: Apply
Send in your application to be considered for an open position. We’ll review it carefully to make sure you meet the basic qualifications.

Step 2: Written Exam & Physical Agility Test
Qualified candidates will complete a two-part assessment:

• Written Exam: Measures your EMS knowledge, problem-solving ability, and readiness to provide high-quality patient care.
• Physical Agility Test: Ensures you can safely meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting, carrying, and working in dynamic environments.

Step 3: Interview
Successful candidates are invited to sit down with a panel of EMS leaders and team members. This is your chance to share your experience, teamwork skills, and passion for helping others.

Step 4: Background Screening
Safety is critical in EMS. We’ll complete both a driving and criminal background check to ensure you meet agency and insurance requirements.

Step 5: Conditional Offer
Applicants who successfully complete the first steps may receive a conditional job offer. At this stage, you’ll complete a pre-employment drug screening.

Step 6: Final Offer
Once you’ve cleared all requirements, we’ll extend an official job offer. This is the exciting moment when you can officially say “yes” to joining our team.

Step 7: Orientation
Your first days with us are about getting you set up for success. Orientation introduces you to our culture, values, and expectations, while also completing the necessary paperwork. From here, you’re fully equipped to begin your career with Robertson County EMS.
